I Know paintings
we
are what we create (2007) This
first started as a series of projects designed to work with the site-specific
area of the Department of Art. The most successful of these projects
was an installation where I created close to four hundred paintings,
each measuring 3” x 5”. The paintings were developed around
a thematic of representing a figurative form. The figurative form was
constructed using an “O” as the head and an upside down “U” as
a body. The paintings were installed edge to edge to create a solid block
of work on three sides of a small enclosure. An audio piece was constructed
from recordings of members of the art department repeating the title
of the work.
The paintings were then used to create an ongoing series of books entitled People
I Know. Each book contained twenty images and was designed in a similar manner
to my other books with the only text being the title of the book.
