from my year-long collecting of daily audio recordings, Memory Passages is
an effort to highlight each week in reference to the previous audio. This concept
is merged with a video collage that represents the audio in a visual thematic.
Each week’s audio is added to a collective of the previous weeks recordings,
as time progresses individual audio tracks disappear into the background while
new sounds appear. With each week the total number of tracks increases with
the final result being 250 audio tracks present on week 50.
The
video constructed for each week is based on the sound thematic present. Each
week’s video (divided into two distinct parts, each ten minutes in length)
uses the previous week’s video as a base. I use a variety of visual sources
including drawings, paintings, personal video, as well as archival films. The
video collage should function as an intermediary between a still image and
a regular video with contrasting senses of movement present. With the process
